Icon glossary

Every icon you will meet in Fablnx, what it is called, and what it lets you do. Icons are grouped by where they live. Most come from the open-source Lucide set; a handful are custom to Fablnx and marked custom.

The Markups tab at the bottom of the page uses the same MapPin glyph as the marker tool, with a count badge.

Copilot

IconNameWhat you can do
Conversation options
Ellipsis
Copilot header. Copy the open transcript as plain text, or clear it. Clearing has no undo and the transcript is the only record of what the copilot did — it never touches the Tekla model. Disabled while the copilot is working.
Auto-approve off
ShieldCheck
Under the copilot's question box. Every change the copilot wants to make waits for you to approve it. Click to switch auto-approve on.
Auto-approve on
ShieldOff
Under the question box, in warning colour. The copilot's changes run without asking you. The same icon marks each change in the transcript that ran this way. Click to have it ask again.
Re-run
RotateCw
Run the copilot (or a single stage) again from the top.
Triage
ScanSearch
Identify — reads every sheet and finds the structural-steel pages.
Lectora
FileText
Read — pulls the steel design spec out of the general notes.
Assistant
Sparkles
Ask anything — the one you type to. It answers about the drawing set, a scene, the project's records, the AISC tables, or the model that is open.
Dictate
Mic
In the ask box. Writes what you say into the box as you say it — it does not send it. Press again (the button turns into a red square) to finish; Esc throws it away. The box is read-only while it listens.
Stop
Square
Stop whatever is running.
Time
Clock
How long it ran. On a tool row it means the opposite — that call has not started, and the row says how many are ahead of it.
Tokens
Sparkles
How much work (tokens) it used.
Done
Check
Finished — also shows how many items it identified.
Running
LoaderCircle
Working right now.
Never ran
CircleSlash2
A queued call that was dropped — you stopped the chain, or it ended before this one reached Tekla. Nothing was sent.

Design spec panel

IconNameWhat you can do
Correct this value
Pencil
Appears at the end of a grade row on hover, in Beam / Column / Joist steel and Plates. Turns the value into a dropdown of the grades Fablnx accepts; picking one saves at once. Not shown on Clip angle, Bolts or Welds — those are worked out or many-fielded rather than one grade.
Set by you
Pencil, beside the value
Not a button. Marks a value you corrected rather than one Lectora read off the drawing — which is also why that row no longer jumps to a source line.
Revert to the drawing
Undo2
On a corrected row only. Withdraws your correction and puts the cell back to whatever Lectora read.

RFIs panel

IconNameWhat you can do
Open issue
CircleAlert
An unresolved conflict or missing piece of information.
Answered issue
CircleCheck
An issue that has been resolved.

Scene editor — the plan rail

A plan scene shows these tools. The rows marked ↳ are not buttons on the rail — they live behind the chevron beside Grid line, which opens a small Grid lines menu. Only a plan folds; an elevation gives every tool its own row. The right-click menu on the canvas lists every one of them flat, chevron or not.

Hovering any of them shows a small animation of what the tool does, above the tooltip.

The icons are the symbols the drawing itself uses — a grid line is a line with its bubble, a column is an I-section, a dimension is extension lines and arrowheads, a moment is the filled triangle at the beam end, a level is the datum — a circle with two opposite quarters filled — so there is nothing to learn.

IconNameWhat you can do
Select
MousePointer2
Select grid lines, members and dimensions, and drag a member's end grips to another intersection. Shortcut V.
Grid line
GridLine
Grid line — click a drawing line or its marker. Shortcut G.
↳ Curved grid line
CurvedGrid
Curved grid line — click its centre, then the ring, then its name. Three clicks for three facts: a ring’s centre cannot be read off the drawn arc by pointing at it. Under the Grid lines chevron. Shortcut R.
↳ Guide line
GuideLine
Guide line — two intersections; where it crosses a line is an intersection — a line through two intersections, so steel can stand where it crosses the grid. Key S. See Draw a guide line on a plan.
Dimension
Dimension
Dimension — two grid lines + a distance. This is what gives the sheet its scale. Shortcut K. Locked until the scene has a grid line.
Column
Column
Column — one grid intersection. One click places one column; drag along a line to place one at every intersection it crosses. Shortcut C. Locked until a dimension is recorded.
Beam
Beam
Beam — two grid intersections. Shortcut B. Locked until columns are placed and every one of them has a profile.
Brace
Brace
Brace — two grid intersections. Shortcut X. Locked on the same condition as Beam.

Scene editor — the elevation rail

An elevation scene shows a different six. Level line and Member appear only here, and the plan's Guide line button is the Slant line; Column, Beam and Brace are not offered — the one Member tool places all three and works out which is which from what you drew.

IconNameWhat you can do
Select
MousePointer2
As on a plan, and level lines and slant lines become selectable too. Shortcut V.
Grid line
GridLine
Grid line — click a vertical the sheet crosses. Verticals only: clicking a horizontal tells you to use the Level tool instead. Shortcut G.
Slant line
GuideLine
Slant line — two intersections a slope runs between — a rafter, or any sloped datum beams frame to. Key S. On a plan the same button draws a guide line.
Level line
LevelLine
Level line — click a horizontal, or its "TOS EL" text. Pins a project level onto this sheet, or places an offset elevation. Shortcut L.
Dimension
Dimension
Dimension — two grid lines + a distance. On an elevation this also reads the sheet's own vertical scale. Shortcut K. Locked until the scene has a grid line.
Member
Member
Member — two intersections; vertical is a column, level is a beam. A diagonal asks you whether it is a brace or a sloped beam. Shortcut M. Locked until a level is pinned on this sheet.

Scene editor — view & review

These sit on both rails, below a separator.

IconNameWhat you can do
Fit view
Maximize2
Fit the scene in the canvas. Shortcut F. Also on the right-click menu.
Review
PlayCircle
Open the review transport and walk the scene item by item, correcting as you go. Called Review detections on a plan and Review this sheet on an elevation. Never disabled.
Pan
Hand
Pan — drag to move the sheet. Second in the tool rail, directly under Select, and on the right-click menu. Shortcut H. Middle-drag, right-drag and Space + drag pan as well, from any tool.

Scene editor — the model underlay

Top-left of the canvas, on every scene.

IconNameWhat you can do
Model
Boxes
Draw the steel the open Tekla model already holds at this sheet's cut level, faint under the drawing. Off to start with, and remembered. When it has nothing to draw it says why, right under the chip.

Scene editor — review transport

The floating bar the Review button opens. Drag it anywhere in the canvas by its grip.

IconNameWhat you can do
Drag to move
GripHorizontal
Reposition the transport anywhere inside the canvas.
Previous
SkipBack
Step back one item. Shortcut ←.
Play
Play
Auto-advance through the items. Shortcut Space. It stops at the end.
Pause
Pause
Stop the auto-advance. Shortcut Space.
Next
SkipForward
Step forward one item. Shortcut →.
Remove
Trash2
Delete the item under review — a member, a grid line or a dimension. Shortcut R or Delete.
Exit review
X
Leave the review and drop the selection it drove. Shortcut Esc.
Follow
Crosshair
Whether each stop frames its member in the Tekla model, or only selects it. Off to start with, and shared with the model checker and the connection tour.

Scene editor — AI detect steps

The bottom group on the rail. A plan shows these seven, in this order; an elevation shows five, worded for what an elevation draws. Every step is run by hand — nothing chains, and nothing detects on its own. See Detection.

Fill from the model is below them under a rule of its own, because nothing in it reads the sheet. Its chevron holds Import statements, Copy grid lines from a committed sheet, Bays between grid lines and Column profiles from the schedule — the first two used to be buttons of their own up beside Calibrate.

IconNameWhat you can do
Detect grid lines
DetectGrid
Step 1. Read the grid off the sheet. On an elevation the button reads Detect grid lines & levels — one pass gives the verticals as grid lines and the horizontals as levels. Needs the scene to sit on a sheet region.
Calibrate
Dimension
Step 2. Calibrate — read dimension ticks & bay distances. On an elevation it reads dimension ticks, bays and floor heights. Needs a grid first.
Detect columns
DetectColumns
Step 3, plan only. Needs a recorded dimension first.
Detect beams
Beam
Step 6, plan only. Needs columns first. Runs all four stages in the order they feed each other — column to column, member to member, cantilevers, infill — and the chevron beside it takes one stage on its own, plus the lineweight beams are drawn at. The infill stage creates grid lines, on the Offsets layer. Every stage writes its working into the inspector's Run tab, one tab each.
Detect braces and joists
Brace
The dashed members running between the steel already found. After the beams, because a brace runs between beams and a joist frames between them. Locked until a beam — detected or calculated — exists.
Match profiles
Profiles
Plan only. Opens a chooser — Columns, Beams, Braces, any mix — and reads the section callout on each member of the kinds you tick. Needs at least one of them detected or placed.
Detect moment connections
Moments
The triangle a drafter puts where a beam meets its support. Last of the detection: a moment connection is a fact about a beam end, so every pass that can put a beam on the sheet has to have run first. Needs a column and a beam.
Fill from the model
FillFromModel
The last step on both rails. Carries members over from the scenes you have already committed — columns up from the floor below on a plan, and on an elevation whatever the plans already know along these grids. Locked until something is committed to carry from.

Scene editor — validate, save & state

IconNameWhat you can do
Open questions
CircleAlert
The push was refused — click to read the questions and jump to each one on the drawing. Any edit clears the count.
Push to Tekla
Upload
Check the scene and write the building into the open Tekla model. Checking happens as part of pushing — there is no separate Validate button. A refusal comes back as a count of open questions on this same button; click it to read them. The chevron beside it pushes one stage at a time, and a stage is stopped only by questions about what IT writes — pushing the grid needs the grid to be right and nothing else. Pushing the same sheet again changes nothing: the write is a reconciliation, not an append. There is no withdraw, and no badge marking a scene as committed — every scene is part of the building, and what the model holds is the model's own answer.
Undo
Undo2
Undo the last change. Shortcut ⌘/Ctrl + Z.
Redo
Redo2
Redo. Shortcut ⌘/Ctrl + Shift + Z.
Saving
LoaderCircle
The scene is autosaving. There is no Save button — edits save themselves.
Delete
Trash2
Delete the selected member, dimension or grid line.
Pin
Pin
Plan only. Pin a grid line’s elevation as a slope anchor, so Fill slope leaves it alone. Elevation scenes have no pin — a vertical runs the height of the building and has no single elevation.
Match case
CaseSensitive
A switch on the Find text box. Off, typ finds TYP.; on, it does not.
Match whole word
WholeWord
A switch on the Find text box. On, W12 no longer matches inside W12X40.
Use regular expression
Regex
A switch on the Find text box. Off, what you type is taken literally. On, it is a regex — which is how the Dimension tool’s box arrives.
Hide inspector
PanelRightClose
Collapse the right-hand inspector panel.
Show inspector
PanelRightOpen
Reveal the right-hand inspector panel.

Structure panel

The buttons that open the building's own drawings. The world summary, the Tekla selection panel and Tekla's reports are in the World panel on the right. See Levels, Grids and the building.

IconNameWhat you can do
Levels
Layers
Open the Elevation ladder as an editor tab. Levels are created, renamed, re-elevated and deleted here and nowhere else.
Grids
Grid3x3
Open the 2D grid diagram as an editor tab — every committed grid line, redrawn and dimensioned.
Schedules
Table2
Open the Column & beam marks as an editor tab — the mark → profile table detection reads to name members.
Model
custom
Open the Coordinated 3D model as an editor tab. Same glyph as the Build view in the sidebar dock.
Design connection
ListChecks
Open Every beam end in the model as an editor tab — the connections your open Tekla model holds, grouped into the details that repeat, plus the designer.
Designed connections
ClipboardCheck
Open The submittal, and Publish as an editor tab — the marks the job has designed, who seals them, and where each end is published into the open model.
Model vs drawings
GitCompare
Open What disagrees, what is missing as an editor tab — the open Tekla model checked against everything your sheets claim.
Fit-up
Spline
Open Tekla's clash check, explained as an editor tab — run Tekla's own clash check and read each finding back in the language the connection was designed in.
Add level
Plus
In the Levels tab: add a level from a name and an elevation. It is drawn as a ghost in the section as soon as the elevation parses.
Delete level
Trash2
Remove a level. There is no confirmation — one click and it is gone, and every scene sitting on it loses its default elevation.
World
Boxes
Last row of the panel. Opens World as a tab in the centre — the building as it stands, what is selected in Tekla, and Tekla's reports.

The Schedules tab reuses the same two glyphs: Plus on its Add column / Add beam button, and Trash2 on each row — again with no confirmation.

The zoom controls in the Levels and Grids tabs are plain −, Fit and + text buttons, not icons, and the keyboard zoom keys do not reach them.

Coordinated model — View & display

IconNameWhat you can do
Solid
Box
Show the model as solid shaded members.
Wireframe
SquareDashed
Show the model as a wireframe.
X-ray
Scan
Show the model see-through so you can look inside.
Isometric
Axis3d
Snap to the standard isometric view. Shortcut Home.
Perspective / Orthographic
Projector
Toggle between a perspective and a flat orthographic camera. Shortcut Num 5. Its label names the mode you are in, not the one you are switching to — it reads Ortho while the camera is already orthographic.
Color by
Palette
Color the members by Kind, Grade, Level, Profile, or Sheets behind it — how many drawings describe each member, banded from No drawing to Three or more.

Coordinated model — Tools

IconNameWhat you can do
Measure
Ruler
Measure a distance, an angle or a gap between members. The three modes are chosen from the status bar, not the ribbon. Turning it on turns the Section box off.
Section box
BoxSelect
Box off part of the model with six draggable face handles. Turning it on turns Measure and Clip off.
Clip plane
Slice
Slice the model with a horizontal plane, driven by a slider at the right edge of the viewport. Turning it on turns the Section box off.
Spin
RotateCw
Slowly auto-rotate the model.
Focus selection
Focus
Frame the current selection, or the whole model when nothing is selected. Shortcut F, with the pointer over the 3D canvas.
Saved views
Bookmark
Save the current camera as a named view, with an optional Why note — the reason to come back — or jump to a saved one. A saved view stores the camera only, not the shading, colouring, visibility or filter.

No icon for Move or Delete — and none is coming

With a member selected, the 3D status bar reads M move · Del delete · Ctrl+Z undo. None of the three does anything. The coordinated model is read-only: there is no move icon, no delete icon and no undo icon in the ribbon because there is no such control. Edit a member in its source scene, then revalidate and commit. The buttons that do work on what you see are the visibility ones — Isolate, Hide and Show all in the properties panel.

Coordinated model — Output & panes

IconNameWhat you can do
Snapshot
Camera
Save a PNG image of the current view.
Material takeoff
FileSpreadsheet
Open the bill of materials. It covers every member in the world — hidden, filtered and toggled-off members included — and excludes connection steel.
Outliner
PanelLeft
Show or hide the model tree on the left.
Properties
PanelRight
Show or hide the properties panel on the right.
Selection filter
Filter
Limit the model by type, level and profile. Anything filtered out disappears from the view and cannot be picked.
Maximize
Maximize2
Hide the Outliner, Properties and Filter in one click for a full-width viewport. One-way — it is not a toggle, and there is no restore button. Bring each pane back from the ribbon or the tab strip on the right edge.
Fullscreen
Fullscreen
Fill the whole screen.

Coordinated model — Categories & tree

IconNameWhat you can do
Grid
Grid3x3
Show or hide the grid lines and their bubble labels. Turning it off also removes grid-intersection snapping from the Measure tool.
Levels
Layers
Show or hide the level planes.
Marks
Tag
Show or hide the part-mark bubbles in 3D. Off by default. The mark chips in the model tree and the Mark row in properties are not affected.
Connections
Wrench
Show or hide the derived base plates, shear tabs, gussets and bolts. On by default. They are an approximation for looks and weight, not a checked connection design, and they can never be clicked or measured.
Expand
ChevronRight
Expand a branch of the model tree.
Visible
Eye
The object is shown — click to hide it.
Hidden
EyeOff
The object is hidden — click to show it.

Model vs drawings

The four findings, and the two things you can do with them. See Compare the model with the drawings.

IconNameWhat you can do
Built differently
TriangleAlert
Heads the members both sides hold and describe differently. The row prints what was drawn and what was built.
Drawn, not in the model
FileWarning
Heads the members a sheet states and the model does not hold — never pushed, or deleted since.
Held
Hand
Heads the members you corrected in Tekla. They are held from every push, and Fablnx has stopped maintaining them.
Adopt the correction
Wand2
On a held member whose section you changed: make it the answer for every member of the same condition — the kind and the section the drawings state. It never touches a member you named by hand, and it stays inside this project.
Claimed by no drawing
Unlink
Heads the members of ours that no sheet calls for any more. A push removes these; this tab only says they are there.
Since I last looked
Diff
Say what has been added, removed, moved or re-sized in the model since the last time you asked.

Fit-up

Two buttons and three group headings. See Find out what a clash actually means.

IconNameWhat you can do
Check for clashes
Play
Ask Tekla to run its own clash check over the open model. Nothing else starts one — not opening this tab, not opening a model, not pushing.
Stop
Square
Stop a run in flight, keeping everything it has found so far. It appears once Tekla has confirmed the run started.
What the clash means
TriangleAlert
Heads the findings Fablnx can account for — each one a sentence, with the designed and the built sections underneath.
As Tekla reported it
CircleSlash2
Heads the findings that are ours and could not be explained — no connection settled on that typical yet, not a beam end and its support, or a reason Tekla itself could not resolve.
Your own steel
Hand
Heads the findings between two parts neither of which carries a Fablnx stamp. Never coloured in the model, and never ours to explain.

World — the Tekla selection

IconNameWhat you can do
Nothing selected
MousePointerSquareDashed
Sits beside Select steel in Tekla to see what the drawings say about it. It is a prompt, not a button — select steel in the model and the panel fills in.

Connection workspace

The three panes of one typical. See designing a connection.

IconNameWhat you can do
Read a reaction schedule
FileSearch
Pick one of your rectangle markups and read the end reactions inside it — mark against kips. Every row is shown, including the ones it could not read, and nothing is stored until you keep it.
Save as standard
BookmarkPlus
Keep what is on screen as one of the firm's details, under a name you choose. It keeps your shop's decisions and stocked sizes, never the bolt rows, the two sections or the verdict.
Forget a standard detail
Trash2
Stop offering one of the firm's details on this condition. Nothing already designed with it changes.
Back to the settled design
RotateCcw
Discard a trial. Puts the connection, the arrangement, the sizes and the reaction back to what was applied, and re-solves.

World — Tekla's reports

Under the Tekla selection. See running one of Tekla's reports.

IconNameWhat you can do
Tekla's reports
FileText
Heads the panel. A label, not a button — pick a scope and a template below it and Tekla writes the report.
Overtaken by a push
AlertTriangle
Marks a report run before Fablnx last issued instructions to the model. It does not mean the model changed — re-run the report if the number matters.

Coordinated model — knowing where you are

The chrome around the viewport. See the coordinated model guide.

IconNameWhat you can do
Where you are
MapPin
Marks the breadcrumb — Level 2 · near C-4. A readout, not a control.
Recent parts
History
Marks the list of the last parts you selected. Click one to select and frame it again.
Storey rail
Layers2
Heads the level buttons. Pick one for that floor solid, everything under it faint, everything over it out of the way.
Sheets
FileText
Heads the sheet buttons on the same rail. Pick one for only what that drawing drew, with the rest of the building faint.
Tekla view
SquarePlus
With a level focused inside Tekla: make a real Tekla plan view at that elevation, named after the level. Not shown outside Tekla.
Lay drawing in the model
Image
Beside each sheet: lay that drawing flat at the level it cuts, under the steel. Inside Tekla it inserts a real reference model you can snap to; in a browser it shows in the 3D view. The tooltip says how well it is placed. Dashed when the drawing cannot be laid down, with the reason.
Bay
Frame
Heads the two corner dropdowns that clip the view to one bay of the grid — A-1 to C-4.
Command palette
Search
Sits in the palette’s own box. Open it with ⌘/Ctrl + K and type a grid reference, mark, section, level, sheet or saved view.

Coordinated model — checker mode

The red-pen pass. See Check the model, member by member.

IconNameWhat you can do
Play
Play
Walk the members on their own, about one every 1.4 seconds. Shortcut Space.
Pause
Pause
Stop the walk where it is. The same button, once it is running.
Correct
Check
Tick this member and move to the next one. Shortcut Enter.
Wants a look
Flag
Flag this member and move to the next one. It changes nothing in the model — the coordinated model is read-only. Shortcut F.
Follow
Crosshair
Whether each stop frames the member — here and in Tekla — or only selects it. Off to start with, and shared with the sheet review and the connection tour.

A flag is not a delete

Checker mode ticks and flags; it never removes anything. To take a wrong member out, reject it in the scene review that drew it. Ticks and flags live in the tab for the session and are not saved.

Pushing to Tekla

The preview you see before anything is written. See Push a sheet to Tekla.

IconNameWhat you can do
Created
Plus
Counts the steel this push would add. Show these beside it selects that steel in Tekla.
Changed
Pencil
Counts the steel this push would re-state — an upper bound, because anything you edited by hand is left alone at the moment of writing.
Removed
Minus
Counts the steel of ours no drawing calls for any more, which this push would delete.
Could not be placed
CircleAlert
Names the members on this sheet that will not be written because the drawing has not finished describing them.
